氣勢正強的Brawn GP車隊在結束週五練習賽後也接到罰單！4月3日晚間，FIA祭出了罰則，由於Rubens Barrichello的賽車在賽前更換了變速箱，因此被處以馬來西亞大賽退後5位發車的處罰。
F1馬來西亞站週五練習賽後，Brawn GP車隊決定更換Rubens Barrichello賽車的變速箱，但在練習賽期間，Rubens Barrichello的賽車並沒有出現任何故障跡象。這意味著Rubens Barrichello的正賽發車位將在排位賽名次決定後再退後5位。本賽季F1規則規定每具變速箱必須要撐過四站比賽，違規更換變速箱將受到發車位退後5位的處罰。
