Fernando Alonso's Daytona team hit with drive-through penalty
This Thursday has not gone well for Fernando Alonso or his team at the 24 Hours of Daytona race, with the United Autosports car No.23 hit with a penalty due to a speeding offence committed by the Spaniard's teammate Lando Norris.
The Brit was going too fast in the pit lane on two occasions during the day's practice session, first being warned and then being told the car is set to serve a drive-through penalty during Sunday's race.
The day had started off disappointingly too, with Alonso's other teammate Phil Hanson crashing the car and reducing the amount of practice time.
The Formula One star finally got his go behind the wheel in the final 25 minutes of the second free practice session, putting together five laps for a time of 1:38.4.
