戴姆勒董事長柴榷1月證實，正與雷諾討論結盟。最新消息顯示，戴姆勒與雷諾－日產的合作計畫最快下周敲定。

華爾街日報2日引述消息人士報導，德國車廠戴姆勒公司（Daimler）為降低小型車的開發與生產成本，正與雷諾－日產聯盟磋商廣泛的合夥計畫，且協商已進入最後階段，最快下周就會敲定。
報導指出，合作計畫的細節未定，但最快下周就會達成協議。而這個已談判多月的合作案最後很可能包含象徵性地交叉持股，即戴姆勒與雷諾－日產相互持有對方3%至5%的股權。
雙方合作目標鎖定汽車市場成長最快速、成本壓力也最重的小車市場。合作內容涵蓋多項領域，包含分享引擎與小車平台，尤其是用於下一代戴姆勒Smart與雷諾Twingo的技術，以及共同開發省油技術。
戴姆勒急需開發省油小車。和福斯及奧迪等高級車一樣，戴姆勒也察覺到，隨著人口結構改變與各國實施碳排放新規定，市場需求逐漸轉向小車，而不是以往利潤較佳的大型車。
戴姆勒過去開發小車一直沒賺到錢，包括mini Smart與美國以外地區銷售的賓士A級與B級款。上個月在Bernstein研究公司的報告中，分析師瓦博頓估計，戴姆勒過去十幾年來，Smart與A級車款合計每年至少虧掉4億歐元（5.4億美元）。
與雷諾－日產結盟後，戴姆勒將取得雷諾及日產的低排放省油小車引擎與小車平台，以及雷諾的電動車技術與削減成本能力。IHS全球透視分析師厄古哈說，雙方合夥後，「初期受惠最大的是戴姆勒」。
雷諾－日產則可獲得戴姆勒的油電混合車引擎技術與電子系統，以及戴姆勒的品管能力。如果合作範圍擴大，雷諾－日產也可借助戴姆勒在大型車與柴油車的技術專長，並與戴姆勒分擔省油技術開發成本、提高財務安全性。
汽車業結盟已成趨勢，尤其當前經濟情勢嚴峻，結盟可分攤成本，幫助車廠盡快進軍高成長市場。福斯12月宣布將以25億美元取得鈴木汽車20%股權，即瞄準低成本的小型車以及印度等市場；寶馬（BMW）與標緻雪鐵龍2月宣布，將繼續合作開發用於BMW的Minis與多款標緻及雪鐵龍汽車的新一代省油引擎。
但戴姆勒曾有慘痛的結盟經驗，收購克萊斯勒最後不歡而散，與三菱汽車結盟也無疾而終。瑞銀分析師郝雪瓦說，戴姆勒的結盟要特別注意經理與工程師的合作，「這是管理的問題，不是資本的問題」。

日經新聞和日本共同社報導，雷諾董事長兼日產總裁高森（Carlos Ghosn）與戴姆勒執行長柴奇（DieterZetsche），將在布魯塞爾記者會做出上述宣布。
雷諾目前擁有日產44.3%股份，日產則持有雷諾15%股權。
日經未引述消息來源指出，根據結盟協議，雷諾與戴姆勒將互持約3%股份，日產和戴姆勒也有類似的交叉持股協議。
這3家汽車廠商去年計賣出722萬輛車，次於豐田的781萬輛，以及德國福斯（Volkswagen）與日本鈴木同盟的860萬輛。
